2014 Champion of Hope: Judy Tuckerman

Judy Tuckerman, Steve Tuckerman photoThe 2014 Champion of Hope Award was presented to Judy Tuckerman, of New Albany, OH (pictured here with her husband, Steve) during the 15th Anniversary Stefanie’s Champions Awards Luncheon on April 9. This special award, in its third year, honors those who give selflessly of their time, energy and commitment to help the cancer community while furthering the mission of the Spielman Fund. Judy was recognized for her community activism and her long time support and advocacy for cancer patients, the Spielman Fund and Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Judy is a 17-year breast cancer survivor and recognizes the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, which is why she often drops everything to refer someone to The James. She is a Stefanie’s Champions Steering Committee member as well as a member of the James Foundation Board and, along with her husband, Steve, chairs Celebration for Life, an annual event in its thirteenth year that has raised more than $14 million for the OSUCCC – James. She gives endlessly of her time and kindness to our community and to those battling cancer and she believes passionately and wholeheartedly in the cause. During Judy’s acceptance remarks, she recognized the Champions in her own life who have supported her through her cancer journey and continue to support her work in the fight against cancer.

Thank You Jersey Mike's
In March, Jersey Mike’s hosted their 4th Annual Month of Giving. All throughout March, customers could make a donation at the register to the Spielman Fund. And on March 26, one hundred percent of the proceeds from Jersey Mike’s orders benefited the fund. Representatives from the Spielman Fund were on-site at three local Jersey Mike’s stores to hand out giveaways. Our local Jersey Mike’s coop raised $27,859.68 Spielman Fund. Thank you to Jersey Mike’s for choosing the Spielman Fund!
