WELCOME to the Weekly Cancer Event Update, an e-newsletter for the faculty and staff of the OSUCCC – James that appears every Tuesday and includes important upcoming meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, lectures and presentations. Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit news items by 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the requested Tuesday placement. If you miss the deadline, the item will appear in the following week’s issue if the date of the event is still valid. This symposium, intended for physicians. radiation oncologists, medical dosimetrists, medical physicists and radiation therapists, will be taught by national experts and will provide a balanced, multidisciplinary review, discussion and hands-on lab exercises on the state of the art in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT).

Attendees at this FREE meeting will learn about resources available to help Ohio State investigators apply for funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). PCORI grants range from $750,000 to $14 million for projects that compare evidence-based options from the patient perspective.

Introduction of and panel discussion with the new OSUCCC – James leadership team. The panel will include: Raphael Pollock, MD, PhD, Director of the OSUCCC; William Farrar, MD, Interim Chief Executive Officer of The James; Peter Shields, MD, Deputy Director of the OSUCCC; and David Cohn, MD, Chief Medical Officer of The James. Cancer Rehabilitation Through the Continuum 2018: Neuro-Oncology
Presented by the OSUCCC – James and Michigan Medicine Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Danto Auditorium, on the Campus of Michigan Medicine, University of Michigan
This one-day symposium will provide participants, through case studies and lectures, with updated concepts of care for the neuro-oncology patient, from acute care admission through outpatient management. Presenters will provide age-specific case studies from both the adult and pediatric care paradigms, and clinical experts will share their experiences.
